UF@SF Programs

Body

UF@SF is a partnership between Santa Fe College and the University of Florida that lets a student begin at SF and transition to UF. Two programs run under it: Gator Engineering @ Santa Fe (GE@SF) and Gator Design and Construction @ Santa Fe (GDC@SF). Students apply to UF as freshmen, UF invites selected applicants, and an invited student then enrolls at SF and completes critical-tracking courses before moving to full UF status.

Both are transient situations. The two phases map to the two transient directions. An SF-phase student taking UF courses is a Transient: SF as Home Institution case, and a UF-phase student taking SF courses is a Transient: SF as Host Institution case.

The Two Phases

Which school is the home institution at a given moment drives the student's aid.

SF phase. The student is enrolled at SF and holds SF status. SF is the home institution and administers aid. The FAFSA lists SF (school code 001519). Bright Futures, Florida Prepaid, and federal aid post to the SF account.

UF phase. After the student meets critical-tracking requirements, UF admits them and becomes the home institution. UF administers aid. The FAFSA lists UF (school code 001535). State and federal aid flow through UF.

Timing varies by program. Construction Management students transition to UF status after the first semester. Design program students and Gator Engineering students transition after the second semester.

Transition Checklist

The transition isn't automatic on the financial aid side. UF and SF don't transfer funds between institutions to pay tuition and fees. The student drives the paperwork.

  • FAFSA. Update at FAFSA.gov [WEB LINK: FAFSA.gov] to list UF (school code 001535) as the home school. Remove SF.
  • Bright Futures and state aid. Update the OSFA account [WEB LINK: OSFA student portal] to show UF as the home institution.
  • Florida Prepaid. No student action is needed. Florida Prepaid works from a database match with the school, so once the student is enrolled at UF the home-school change picks up automatically.
  • Transcripts. Request that any outstanding transcripts be sent to SF so the SF academic record and final aid and Bright Futures records are accurate.

The Class-Hold Window During Transition

A UF-admitted student's SF classes are held without payment until the day before the Last Day to Add Classes for the semester. That window gives the student time to update the FAFSA, confirm UF aid, and arrange payment without being dropped for nonpayment.

A student who confirms aid with the UF Office for Student Financial Affairs gets an extension at SF until aid can disburse. A student who doesn't act in time risks being dropped for nonpayment.

Once fully in UF status, the student reports attendance through UF for funds to disburse through UF. After completing all SF classes in the UF@SF program, no transient or attendance steps are needed at SF.

Book Charging During the UF Phase

A UF@SF student in UF status taking SF classes isn't eligible for SF book charging. Book charging at SF is available only when SF is the home institution processing aid, and during the UF phase the home institution is UF.

First Steps for Incoming UF@SF Students

A newly admitted UF@SF student in the SF phase should:

  • Complete the FAFSA and list SF as the home school (school code 001519).
  • List SF on the Bright Futures application if the student is a Bright Futures recipient.
  • Review the SF Cost of Attendance.
  • Watch SF financial aid dates and deadlines.
  • Complete any outstanding requirements shown in the Financial Aid Portal [WEB LINK: eSantaFe login].

Once the eSantaFe account is created, the student opens the Financial Aid Portal under Finances to track requirements, accept aid, and see disbursement information.
