MacOS: Reset device for New User or Reimage

Pre-Requirements: Initial Setup

  1. Ensure device is connected to power and network (wired)
  2. Log in to JAMF (https://sfcollege.jamfcloud.com) & Ensure Device is managed
    1. Locate device in Jamf computers inventory by searching property number or serial number.
    2. If device does not show up in JAMF, check Apple School Manager (https://school.apple.com)
    3. If device is not in Apple School Manager (ASM) the device will need to be managed. 

Wipe Device

  1. While still on the Device Page in JAMF
    1. Click Management > Wipe Computer
      1. Create a remote wipe passcode (123456)
      2. Click "Clear Activation Lock"
      3. Click "Wipe Computer
        1. If no activation lock found, click OK to continue anyways
    2. Device will automatically reboot once the command is received and begin the process
  2. Activation process
    1. As long as a bootstrap token was Escrowed in JAMF, the device will automatically activate and reboot after 60 seconds
    2. If not, the recovery key will need to be typed in
  3. Eventually You'll be presented with the Setup Wizard
    1. Select your Country or Region (United States) > Continue
    2. Accessibility > Not Now
    3. Remote Management > Enroll
    4. Software Updates:
      1. After 60 Seconds, the device will begin to update to meet minimum requirements

Finalization

  1. Applications will begin to install during the finalization phase. 
  2. Please wait while we setup your device according to your institution. Allow all software to complete installation. 
    1. Set time zone, Rosetta, Install PKG, Alertus, Chrome, Microsoft Office, VLC, Zoom
  3. WARNING: Ensure the first login is through ITSAdmin account
    1. If the ITSAdmin account is not the first login, you will need to wipe the device again.

Additional Setup & Applications

  1. Configure PPPC Screen Recording
    1. System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen & System Audio Recording
    2. Representative Console = Enable
    3. jamfRemoteAssist = Enable
  2. Open Self Service
    1. Install Additional Apps As needed
      1. Adobe CC
      2. Sound Library
